# Never Fly into a Thunderstorm

## Context for the Reader

Before “straight ahead,” Dean records the primary rule: do not enter. Survival limits of the airframe, wing shear, fear — and his own inadvertent entry as attestation. Life parallel: do not choose needless crisis cells; some storms you only exit.

> Voice note: Everything under **Dean's excerpt** is Dean's original prose (lightly cleaned only). Sections marked **Biblical foundations**, **Scholar sidebar**, **Takeaways**, and **First-time learner** are enrichment for Asker / first readers — not Dean speaking.

## Biblical foundations (preface)

Warnings exist because limits are real. Scripture honors wise avoidance of folly and still meets those already inside trouble with truth-telling, not shame-only.

| Dean's claim | Scriptural undercarriage |
| --- | --- |
| Instructors warn never to enter | The prudent sees danger and hides himself (Proverbs 22:3); leave the presence of a fool (Proverbs 14:7) |
| Challenging survival capability of the craft | Do not put the Lord your God to the test (Matthew 4:7); pride goes before destruction (Proverbs 16:18) |
| Frightening experience; warnings correct | Fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom (Proverbs 9:10); a truthful witness saves lives (Proverbs 14:25) |

## Dean's excerpt

### Warnings are correct

Every instructor pilot warns a student to never fly into a thunderstorm. When you fly into a thunderstorm you are challenging the capability of the airplane to survive. One wing may be in one pipe going up while the other is being sent the opposite direction. Instantaneously there can be a resulting stretching or tearing of metal and extreme turbulence. It can be a most frightening experience. I did inadvertently fly into a thunderstorm and can attest to the fact that the warnings are correct.

> **Scholar sidebar — Avoid when you can; attest when you must**
> Proverbs 22:3 underwrites the never-enter rule. Dean’s “inadvertently” matters for life transfer: not all storms are chosen. Keep metal stretch/tear as his aviation claim; next lessons cover exit once inside.

---

## Takeaways

1. **Universal instructor rule.** Never enter.
2. **Survival challenge.** Airframe limits are real.
3. **Differential wings.** Opposite pipes tear/stretch.
4. **Fright is honest.** Not melodrama.
5. **Dean attests.** Inadvertent entry proved the warnings.

---

## First-time learner

### What is Dean saying in one sentence?
Instructors ban thunderstorm flight because the airplane may not survive opposing wing forces — and Dean’s own inadvertent entry proved they were right.

### Does “never enter” cancel “straight ahead”?
No — never enter is prevention; straight ahead is recovery if you are already in.

### Key verses to read with this lesson
- **Proverbs 22:3** — Prudent sees danger.
- **Proverbs 14:16** — Wise is cautious and turns away from evil.
- **Matthew 4:7** — Do not test God.
- **Proverbs 16:18** — Pride before destruction.
- **Proverbs 9:10** — Fear of the Lord.
- **Proverbs 14:25** — Truthful witness.

### A simple practice
List storms you can still refuse to enter this month vs storms you are already inside.

### How this feeds Ask Dean
Seed material for: *What do instructors say about thunderstorms? Did Dean ever fly into one? What can happen to the wings?*
