# Options Not Gone; Don't Quit

**Author:** Dean Rush

## Context for the Reader

Design and courage still leave a decision problem: under bounce, exits vanish from view. Dean challenges the disappearance, bans quitting-as-circling, and returns to slow-down and proper action toward clear air.

> Voice note: Everything under **Dean's excerpt** is Dean's original prose (lightly cleaned only). Sections marked **Biblical foundations**, **Scholar sidebar**, **Takeaways**, and **First-time learner** are enrichment for Asker / first readers — not Dean speaking.

## Biblical foundations (preface)

Dean fights despair’s tunnel vision. Scripture counters quitting, invites renewed sight, and calls for steadfast forward movement.

| Dean's claim | Scriptural undercarriage |
| --- | --- |
| Stress blinds available options | The simple believes everything; the prudent gives thought (Proverbs 14:15); test everything (1 Thessalonians 5:21) |
| Slow down; look; plow to clear air | Be still before the Lord (Psalm 37:7); in quietness and trust shall be your strength (Isaiah 30:15) |
| Quitting is circles in the storm | Let us not grow weary (Galatians 6:9); we are not of those who shrink back (Hebrews 10:39) |
| Answers may be right in front | Eyes to see (Deuteronomy 29:4); open my eyes (Psalm 119:18) |
| Determine proper action through | Be doers (James 1:22); prepare minds for action (1 Peter 1:13) |

## Dean's excerpt

### Don’t fly circles

In a stressful situation, deciding what to do to get out of the problem can be one of your greatest challenges. What do you do when your options seem to disappear as you are being bounced by turbulence in every direction? Are your alternatives really disappearing or are we just guilty under the pressure of not seeing everything clearly? Slow down, look at your available options, and plow straight ahead to find clear air. The last thing you should consider at that time is to quit. Quitting is like flying in circles in the middle of the storm. You are only going to continue bouncing. Sometimes the answers to the future are right in front of us. Determine a proper action to get you through the storm.

> **Scholar sidebar — Seeming vs real disappearance**
> Proverbs 14:15 and Isaiah 30:15 underwrite slow, clear looking. Hebrews 10:39 and Galatians 6:9 underwrite anti-quit. “Circles in the storm” is Dean’s image for thrash without exit — keep it primary in Asker answers.

---

## Takeaways

1. **Decision is hard under bounce.** Named as great challenge.
2. **Seeming loss of options.** Question the disappearance.
3. **Pressure blinds.** Guilt of not seeing clearly.
4. **Slow → look → plow.** Sequence to clear air.
5. **Quit = circles.** Keep bouncing; act properly instead.

## First-time learner

### What is Dean saying in one sentence?
When options seem gone in turbulence, slow down and look again — quitting only circles you in the storm; determine proper action straight through to clear air.

### Why is quitting like circling?
Because you stay in the same violent cell without an exit heading.

### Key verses to read with this lesson
- **Isaiah 30:15** — Quietness and trust.
- **Proverbs 14:15** — Prudent thought to steps.
- **Hebrews 10:39** — Not those who shrink back.
- **Galatians 6:9** — Do not grow weary.
- **Psalm 119:18** — Open my eyes.
- **James 1:22** — Be doers.

### A simple practice
List every option you “lost” this week. Mark which might still exist if pressure were lower. Circle one to plow toward.

### How this feeds Ask Dean
Seed material for: *What if I feel I have no options? Why does Dean say not to quit? What is flying in circles?*
