# Jesus Loves Me Firm Foundation

**Author:** Dean Rush
**Book:** *Flying Free* · **Chapter 29:** Enjoy the Moment – Landing Brings Relief
**Full book:** [deanrush.net/downloads/flyingfreebook.md](https://deanrush.net/downloads/flyingfreebook.md)

## Context for the Reader

This chapter acknowledges the emotional release that comes when the crisis finally ends. Dean’s honest admission of his fear of heights on the Empire State Building observation deck humanizes the book; he closes by tying solid ground to Christ’s love and inviting you to enjoy the landing.

This lesson is the theological and emotional seal: foundation, low-point importance, relief, enjoy.

> Voice note: Everything under **Dean's excerpt** is Dean's original prose (lightly cleaned only). Sections marked **Biblical foundations**, **Scholar sidebar**, **Takeaways**, and **First-time learner** are enrichment for Asker / first readers — not Dean speaking.

## Biblical foundations (preface)

Dean ends with child-faith and adult landing. Scripture affirms cycles of affliction and relief, love that will not let go, rock foundation, and joy when feet stand secure again.

| Dean's claim | Scriptural undercarriage |
| --- | --- |
| High moments and low times cycle | There is a time for every matter (Ecclesiastes 3:1–4); weeping / rejoicing (Psalm 30:5) |
| Low moments really count for moving forward | Suffering produces endurance (Romans 5:3–4); God comforts in affliction (2 Corinthians 1:3–4) |
| “Jesus loves me” is true | The Son of God loved me and gave Himself for me (Galatians 2:20); nothing separates us from His love (Romans 8:38–39) |
| Always connected; firm foundation | No one can snatch them (John 10:28–29); foundation of God stands (2 Timothy 2:19); rock (Matthew 7:24) |
| He can move you from low to right place quickly | He lifts the needy (Psalm 113:7–8); suddenly help (Isaiah 29:5–6 imagery of swift act) |
| Relief on solid ground; enjoy the landing | He set my feet upon a rock (Psalm 40:2); enter His rest (Hebrews 4:9–11) |

## Dean's excerpt

### Enjoy the landing

Life moves from the high moments to the really low times and back again. The cycle is part of the process of life. It is the low moments in life that really count when you are trying to move forward. Remember that old Sunday School song from when you were a kid, “Jesus loves me, this I know…”? Well the words in that song are true. He does love us and because of that love we are always connected to the ground and on a firm foundation. He can make you go from the low point to the right place very quickly. There are many ways to find yourself back on solid ground but all involve you and your capability to find a place to land your problem. There is a noted relief when we first place our feet back on solid ground. It is the reward for enduring the times when we felt unsettled, unconfident, and, even, unfulfilled. There is gratification in the end.

Enjoy the landing.

> **Scholar sidebar — Child song, adult rock**
> Romans 8:38–39 and Galatians 2:20 underwrite “Jesus loves me… true.” Psalm 40:2 underwrites feet on a rock. Dean holds divine love as the connection to firm ground *and* human capability to find a place to land the problem — not either/or. The last line is command and gift: enjoy the landing. Do not rush past relief.

## Takeaways

1. **Cycles are normal.** High and low belong to life’s process.
2. **Lows count for forward motion.** They are formative, not only miserable.
3. **Child faith is true faith.** Jesus’ love grounds connection and foundation.
4. **God can relocate you quickly.** Low point to right place is possible under His hand.
5. **Relief is the reward — enjoy it.** Feet on solid ground after unsettled, unconfident, unfulfilled seasons; gratification in the end.

## First-time learner

### What is Dean saying in one sentence?
Life cycles high and low; Jesus’ love keeps you on a firm foundation; find a place to land your problem, feel the relief of solid ground, and enjoy the landing.

### Why the Sunday School song?
Because the simplest true words — He loves us — are the connection that keeps foundation real when adult crisis feels unmoored.

### Key verses to read with this lesson
- **Romans 8:38–39** — Nothing separates us from His love.
- **Galatians 2:20** — He loved me and gave Himself.
- **Psalm 40:2** — Feet on a rock.
- **Romans 5:3–4** — Suffering, endurance, character.
- **Ecclesiastes 3:1–4** — Times and seasons.
- **Hebrews 4:9–11** — Enter rest.

### A simple practice
Sing or speak “Jesus loves me, this I know” once slowly. Then write: Low I endured / Solid ground I feel now (or seek) / One way I will enjoy the landing this week without guilt.

### How this feeds Ask Dean
Seed material for: *How does “Jesus loves me” fit Flying Free? What does enjoy the landing mean?* Keep the close line primary.
